Indie Record Shops Learning To Adapt
..focused on being a destination for people to hang out and buy coffee… while hearing music (often live music) and then selling only special physical goods: limited edition box sets and vinyl. And, apparently for some of these shops, business is better than before.
An interesting development as most small chains struggle to survive in a digital world. The last time I checked out my old record store it was in a sad state. The inventory consisted mostly of used DVDs and there was an air of death about the place. My only question: How’s the coffee?
